Colourful selections from the popular circus ballet commissioned by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet was originally premiered to great acclaim by the Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra. The Suite has since been performed by conductors Earl Stafford with the National Arts Centre Orchestra; the Toronto Symphony, Saskatoon Symphony; Howard Cable with Symphony Nova Scotia; John Barnum with the Mississauga Symphony and the Georgian Bay Symphony, and toured Australia and Europe with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra under conductor Arthur Polson. It is lively, energetic, entertaining and great fun for the musicians, conductor and audience alike. In fact both Arthur Polson and John Barnum wore a clown costume to conduct it! The 21 minute suite features various sections of the orchestra such as the woodwinds (The Poodles), the percussion (Big Cats), the brass (The Equestrians), showcasing all in the Finale and Bows. Suitable for senior youth orchestra and up. Score and Parts are available to be rented from Counterpoint Musical Services - email Counterpoint. |
