A Tale Of Two Cities (an opera)

The Tale hits the stage at Summer Opera Lyric Theatre! Victor Davies’ and Eugene Benson’s long awaited opera started as a musical, became an opera, then a musical, but opera finally won out! The scope of the events of the French Revolution coupled with the powerful emotions of the characters of Dickens’ story found their home as a fully musicalized story through the heightened lyricism of the operatic voice! Benson brilliant realization of Dickens’s story though the compression of time, and focus on the principle characters of the story, is propelled by passionate music which lifts the story to epic heights through unforgettable melodies, epic choruses, music which underlines the poignant fate of the characters torn by unrequited love, revenge for family, and the fall of the mighty, in a way which will move and engage the listener!
